Ann Beck, PhD., Executive Director:  
Ann Beck is a long-time Flagstaff resident. She earned a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Northern Arizona University in 1994. Over the years she has taught for the English Department at NAU and organized classes and programs on the Navajo Nation and Hopi reservation for NAU’s off campus programs. She is a certified Montessori classroom teacher. She began her tenure as Executive Director of Literacy Volunteers of Coconino County in November 1999.


 

Carynn Davis, Program Development Specialist:
Carynn has been in Arizona for over 13 years and has recently made Flagstaff her home. She earned a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Second Language in 2008 and is a certified English, Spanish and ESL instructor. Carynn taught high school in Winslow and has also taught for NAU through the Four Corners/Upward Bound program and in the Program in Intensive English. She has spent time all over Southern Spain and has visited many other countries such as France, Holland, Germany, Morocco, and Mexico. Carynn is currently implementing Project LIFT (Literacy Initiative for Tomorrow), a teen and young adult literacy project as well as many exciting new programs for Literacy Volunteers.

 

Rachel Richards, Office Assistant:  
Rachel Richards works as an Office Assistant through NAU Work Study. She began working at LVCC in January 2004. Rachel attends NAU and Coconino Community College where she is studying to be an art teacher.

 

Heather Plaza, Office Assistant:
Heather Plaza works with the tutoring program and as an Office Assistant through Americorps. Heather currently attends NAU pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Modern Languages. She is a fun-loving mother of one, soon to be two, who adores her family, cooking, culture, and The Beatles and looks forward to meeting all of LVCCs tutors and learners.  

 


 

Rachel Durazo, Librarian:
Rachel Durazo began working with LVCC in the fall of 2009. She is currently pursuing a degree in history and hopes to attain a Masters in Library Science. She has experience at both school and community libraries and looks forward to many great experiences at LVCC.
