Tutor Requirements

Tutors Should Have:
~   A passion for reading and language as well as learning.
~   A capability to relate to adults from different backgrounds.
~   A HS diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old.
Tutors Need to Complete the Following:
~   A 1-2 hour orientation to give you insight into our organization.
~   Training sessions amounting to 12 hours. See the Training page for our next sessions.
~   Attendance to at least one workshop every year. These can be workshops given by Literacy Volunteers, related organizations or online. Click here for the Thinkfinity Literacy Campus Course Catalog or visit http://literacynetwork.verizon.org/tln/courses to see online courses.
~   A commitment of at least 6 months.
~    A self-evaluation each year.

1. are consistent in attendance and effort.
2. use and apply program-approved techniques with students.
3. come prepared to the lesson.
4. provide the program with necessary reports.
5. attend required continuing education classes.
